The Canal & River Trust were busy improving the pathways down the side of Combs reservoir in the High Peak, Derbyshire last weekend, here's a few photographs of the event.
The Canal & River Trust do a fantastic job of maintaining our waterways, much of the work below was carried out by the generous help of volunteers, but the motorised wheelbarrows do look quite fun.

One team approaches the small bridge with their empty wheelbarrow. They've just completed another drop of gravel further down the pathway alongside the south edge of Combs reservoir. I used the bridge railings to frame the scene and a telephoto lens to get some good subject compression.
It's such a muddy footpath, especially in winter where you can only really walk down it wearing knee length wellington boots; unless your happy to ruin your clothes or get wet feet. It's great to see these improvements as it's a popular scenic trail especially for dog walkers. I guess the work will also help to protect embankments from erosion too.
A volunteer poses for camera whilst taking a brief rest from the work in the hot sunshine, framed by the arc of the concrete dam bank walkway.
More trips back and forth. Combs reservoir is located near Chapel-en-le-Frith in Derbyshire and is a popular local attraction for walkers, ramblers, fishermen and lake swimmers. I used to spin for pike here many years ago myself. I never caught the infamous monster pike that lives here though. He has a nickname but I can't remember it. My friend spotted him recently and insisted it was nearly as long as the kayak he was paddling in... sounds terrifying.
There is also a well-organised sailing club at Combs reservoir with membership offers and special events throughout the year.
The volunteers hard at work again using a small digger to resupply the wheel barrows with paving materials.
The High Peak in Derbyshire is beautiful in the summer, and this little brook is no exception.
